POL M1809: MEDICARE PART D PRESCRIPTION DRUG ASSISTANCE

1. Medicare Prescription Drug Assistance is Available to All Medicare Beneficiaries

This benefit will provide assistance with prescription drug coverage for Medicare beneficiaries.

2. Dual Eligible Client’s Prescription Drug Benefits Will Be Covered by Medicare

Beginning January 1, 2006 Medicaid no longer covers prescription drugs for full-benefit dual eligible clients. Dual eligible clients can contact the following agency for assistance in choosing a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan:

Wyoming State Health Insurance Information Program (WSHIIP):

    • Cheyenne – 634-1010

    • Casper – 235-5959

    • Riverton – 1-800-856-5398

    • All other locations – 1-800-856-4398

3. Low Income Subsidies Are Available

Extra help is available to assist lower income Medicare beneficiaries. This will assist in paying premiums and deductibles to a drug plan on behalf of the Medicare beneficiary.

An application is not required for a full-benefit dual eligible or those clients of a Medicare Savings Program. These individuals will automatically receive a low income subsidy from the Centers of Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS). An application will be required for all other Medicare beneficiaries.
